A Dentist Specializing in Laser Dentistry and Committed to Honest Dental Treatment

Dr. Rodney E. O'ConnorMy name is Dr. Rodney E. O'Connor. I feel privileged to work in the healthcare field, and while my team and I encourage laughter and fun in the office, our patients’ health is something we take very seriously. I treat patients the way I would like to be treated: honestly and with the compassion I believe everyone deserves. Because of this, my patients trust me and my team, and that trust is something I never take for granted.

Education and Continuing Education

  • Undergraduate degree – Kentucky State University
  • Doctorate of Dental Medicine – University of Kentucky College of Dentistry
  • Post-graduate studies – Eastman Dental Center

I enjoy interacting with dental and medical specialists in my quest to provide the best help for my patients. If there is something I don’t know, I look it up. I like to be informed and be able to pass knowledge onto my patients.

As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, I feel it is imperative that I take a minimum of 60 hours of continuing education courses within a three-year period. I attend lectures, webinars, and hands-on participation courses.

Professional Affiliations

Outside the Office

Originally from Ft. Smith, Arkansas, I have lived in the 19th Ward of Rochester for 37 years. I love my neighborhood, and it is within biking range of my office, as well! I am the father of two daughters: Elena (grown) and Candice (soon to be college-bound).

My favorite thing, besides sharing time with my daughters and friends, is playing and recording original music and art, found at www.ReverbNation.com/Docmatrix or www.oconnorartsandmusic.com. I also enjoy cooking and developing my own healthy recipes. I won first place in my church’s distinguished chefs’ competition a few years ago! It was a vegetarian dish that lowers the risks of undergoing bariatric surgery which I called Sacred Heart Soup. I receive great ideas and recommendations from patients!

I recently participated in a local health awareness fair, and I’ve spoken to people in congregations, schools, etc., about the importance of oral health. I have volunteered as a nominated board chair at a local health center, with a local community watch/action group, and recently, I’ve written articles in the new, Upstate New York Gospel Magazine.
